8 bolt Cobra Crank vs. the stock 2v 6 bolt.
Here you can see the crank bearings and in the corner you can see where the 2v
motor had to be clearanced for the Cobra 4V crank.
Crank is now installed and torqued to spec.
Now seemed like a good time to spray some paint on the block.
I installed a Cobra High Volume oil pump and pick-up vs. the stock 2v pump.
Notice the difference in pick-up diameters. The Cobra one is on the left.
File fitting rings suck ass.
Here is the new CP Piston on the Manley rod right before going into the block.
Fitting the pistons into the block.
Next came the ARP head studs.
Then the SVO Heads were installed with super secret cams (01 GT).
Timing chains weren't as hard to install as I thought they would be.
Here is a picture of the SVO intake split in half for cleaning.
Valve covers, intake, water pump, and alternator finish up the long block before
it gets dropped into the car.
A side shot showing the SVO shorty headers and Throttle Body.
Scat shield and Tremec TKO fit nicely behind the 4.6L. This should of been
standard equipment.
Here is a better view of the Blow Proof Bell Housing. This is the only bell
housing that will allow you to install a Fox style transmission into a 4.6L 2V
or 4V car.
A shot of the Tremec TKO installed waiting for some abuse.
Here you can see the UPR Drive Shaft spacer needed to fit the Fox Aluminum DS
along with the Fox style transmission.
Welded in a bung for the Blower Oil drain. This is a much better solution
compared to the tapping the pan and threading the fitting directly into the pan.
Here you can see the MAF mounted in the fender along with the MSD DIS-4 ignition
box.
23,872 Miles on the OD at the time of the complete Drive Train Overhaul.
And the finishing touch...installation of the personalize license plate 'MSQUICK'.
Added a Bassani X-Pipe for a better fitting Off-Road Pipe. The car has a very
unique sound now.
Here is another shot of the Bassani Stainless X-Pipe. It fits like a glove under
the 96 Gt.
